After nearly 6 months of teasing and waiting, the M:ZERO is released. The modern, molded, recycled plastic shoe for men. From the original jelly shoe maker, Melissa. (UGH! Remember the ’80s?) Yes, Melissa, a company out of Brazil that has hooked up with some of the most amazing icons of eccentric design, such as Vivianne Westwood and John Paul Gaultier, to put out some pretty awesome jelly shoes. Seriously.
And M:ZERO is a totally cool men’s line. Right now, there are two shoe styles on the market. A totally bougie driving moc slip on, in a variety of colors. Now, I think that this shoe may be the future boat shoe. As in, the totally cheesy shoe of conformity and middle class identification, that somehow winds up in the more fashion forward crowd. “Hipsters” they have been called. For better or for worse. At least the mocs are cooler than boat shoes. And they’re slip ons!
Ok. Back on topic. I picked up the oxford style. This is a cool piece. It looks like 1 solid piece of molded plastic. There is no definition between the shoe and the sole, creating a very cool streamline profile. The shoes feel like a dream. Lightweight, comfortable, and durable. This oxford reminds me of Alexander McQueen’s Samsonite Black Label bags line, particularly his molded skeleton suitcases because these shoes have a molded wing-tip pattern. Granted, not as cool-y creepy as the skeleton case. You know… I think M:ZERO needs to consider a molded foot skeleton shoe! Awesome.
